The Overseas Citizen of India card (OCI) is a smart card that allows foreign nationals of Indian origin to travel to India multiple times without having to obtain a visa. OCI Application Assistance can also open a bank account in India and own property in the country. This type of card was originally offered as the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card, but it has been rescinded in favor of this more comprehensive option.
Which agency is helping with OCI?
To be eligible for an OCI, you must have:
Step 1: Renounce your citizenship formally. This is mandatory if you plan to apply for the OCI, as it is very difficult to get a tourist visa to visit the country if you don’t renounce your citizenship.
Step 2: Complete the OCI registration process. This can be done online at the VFS Global website. Step 3: Upload all required documents to your OCI account. Step 4: Pay the applicable fee.
The fees for an OCI are quite high, but they are not unreasonable given the benefits that come along with it. The fees are payable by money order, cashier’s check, or banker’s check. They must be sent to the appropriate center based on your jurisdiction. They will not accept cash in person. A checklist and affidavit must also be submitted with the application. If you are applying for an OCI in lieu of a lost PIO card, the police FIR and notarized affidavit are also required.
